WESTPORT, Conn. – The 74th Candlelight Concerts will be held in the Staples High School auditorium at 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 12th and 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13.
A traditional evening performance will be held at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13.
The snow date for all performances is 7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 14. The Staples Chorus and Chorale, A Cappella Choir, the Symphonic Orchestra and the Symphonic Band will perform holiday music throughout the shows. In addition, the choruses will combine with the orchestra for the traditional processional, “Sing We Noel” as well as the “Hallelujah Chorus.”
The Saturday evening performance will feature the community sing-along.
An added feature of this year’s program is a newly commissioned theatrical music production number by composer Don Rickenback. Other pieces to be performed include “Gatatumba” and “Sleigh Ride”. General admission tickets are free and will be available by mail. For tickets, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope postmarked by Dec. 3 along with the ticket order form. Note first and second choices for the desired concerts as well as the number of tickets.
Requests should be mailed to Candlelight Tickets, Staples High School, 70 North Ave., Westport, CT 06880. After Dec. 3, remaining tickets will be available at the security/welcome desk in the front lobby of Staples High School up until 3 p.m. during school days. Donations are accepted. Checks can be made out to Staples HS Music and may be sent along with ticket requests.
