The course is aimed at students from eighth through 12th grade who want to further develop their study skills.

The workshop will be held on the St. Luke’s campus Sundays, Nov. 2, 9, and 16, from 3-5:30 p.m.

The S4 Study Skills workshops foster academic achievement by teaching key study strategies to help students learn and attain greater academic success. Built on S4’s evidenced-based 100 series, the 200 program expands to cover assessing and  understanding one’s learning style, methods to stay focused and eliminate distractions, motivation techniques, critical-thinking strategies and scientific-based methodologies to increase information retention while decreasing stress.

“Study skills are essential to academic success,” said Liz Perry, St. Luke’s Upper School head. “Building these skills can improve comprehension and performance. We're pleased to bring this program to our campus, both for our own students and those from neighboring towns."

“This new program has been exceptionally well-received. Both students and parents have self-reported that the S4 Study Skills program has helped in areas of focus, retention, engagement, as well as planning, organization and executive functioning strategies.,” said S4 President Michelle Sagalyn. “A framework for managing the increased complexity and demands of school is essential to a student’s well-being and academic achievement.”

The 7.5-hour workshop is $395. Parents may register online. The workshop includes all in-class materials, original S4 Teach Sheets for each skill taught for at-home reference and parent emails after each session. Class size limited to 15.
