WESTPORT, Conn. -- With the school year fast approaching, signups for the Westport Weston Family Y's after-school programs for students in first through fifth grade are underway.
Available to all Westport and Weston students, the Y’s After-School Program will take place at Saugatuck Elementary School in Westport during the 2013-14 school year and will include outdoor play, swim lessons, art activities, table games and snack.
The program runs Monday through Friday from the time school ends until 6 p.m.
The Y also offers an Early Bird program, caring for kindergarten through fifth grade children before the school day begins, starting at 7 a.m.
“The combination of enrichment and extended learning opportunities is essential to increasing children’s success in school,” Senior Director of the Family Y’s Child Care and School Age Programs Tasha Dennison said in a statement. “YMCA after-school programs promote a love for learning, social and emotional development, healthy choices, character and creativity, and provide children with an extra support system through positive role models to help them achieve and reach their full potential.”
Financial assistance is available to those in need, to ensure every child and teen has the opportunity to learn and grow at the Family Y.
