Last year, more than 50 Westport students including Sophia Tarsy turned out for the schools' first annual Community Fun Day. Because the free family event was such a success, it's happening again this year.
On Saturday, all students in prekindergarten through Grade 5 who receive special education services in Westport Public Schools and their families are invited to attend the Community Fun Day at Coleytown Elementary School, said Jennifer Robson, administrative assistant to the superintendent.
From 4 to 6 p.m., participants will enjoy a variety of activities, such as karate, arts and crafts, basketball, face painting and a magic performance.
"The purpose of the event is to build a sense of community among special education families of Westport and is sponsored by the PTAs of Coleytown, Greens Farms, Kings Highway, Long Lots and Saugatuck Elementary Schools," Robson said in a statement.
If you plan to attend, RSVP to Jane Tarsey at firstname.lastname@example.org and include your child's school and the number of children and adults who will attend.
