In addition to touring the campus, enjoying refreshments and meeting faculty members, children ages 5 to 11 and their families will have an opportunity to enjoy four interactive activity centers designed to inspire problem solving, creativity and innovation. Come Build With Us is free and will be held from 9 a.m to noon. Click here for more information and to RSVP.

Ridgefield Academy lists high academic standards and community as key components of its mission statement, and recently established the Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning on its campus. By replacing lectures with hands-on activities at its open house, attendees will have a rare opportunity to truly experience the school.

  • What: Come Build With Us: Open House
  • Where: Ridgefield Academy, 223 West Mountain Road, Ridgefield, CT, 06877
  • When: Saturday, November 7, 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
  • RSVP: David Suter, 203.894.1800 x112 or DSuter@ridgefieldacademy.org

The four activity centers offered during Come Build With Us will include catapult building challenges, filmmaking in the school’s digital arts lab and LEGO building in the lower school’s newly created Tinker Lab. Students will also work with CodeBug, a small programmable, wearable computer that allows them to create an accessory or piece of clothing that lights up and responds to touch. Children will enjoy working with sensors, buzzers and motors while working on this project. All four activity centers inspire learning and innovation through questioning and discovery.

“This will be a wonderful opportunity for children and their parents to come out to the school, experience learning together in a fun and meaningful way, enjoy our facilities and meet some of our faculty,” said David M. Suter, Ridgefield Academy’s Associate Head of School & Director of Enrollment. “In addition to offering a truly engaging and empowering experience here at RA, we’ve also fostered a warm, close-knit community. We’re eager to share all of that with families – to give them a glimpse into what Ridgefield Academy is all about.”
