Westport Human Services Director Barbara Butler and Westport Police Chief Dale Call recently announced the scheduling of the “Play By The Rules” program for sixth through eighth grade students in Westport.
“Play By The Rules” is designed to teach law to youth, develop their sense of civic responsibility and "provide them with the tools they need to prevent crime, save lives and build safer communities," a press release said.
The nine-week program, a collaboration between Westport Youth Services and the Westport Police Department, will be held on Wednesdays after school from March 5 to May 7 at Toquet Hall.
"The program will be facilitated by staff from Westport Youth Services and the Westport Police Department as part of the continuing efforts to foster the healthy and positive relationship between local students and the police," a press release said.
"Through engaging activities and discussion, students will have an opportunity to increase their knowledge of the law and recognize their shared responsibility in helping to make Westport a wonderful community for everyone."
Space is limited and students will be enrolled on a first come, first served basis. Those with questions or looking to register are asked to contact Kevin Godburn at kgodburn@westportct.gov or 203-341-1155.
