WESTPORT, Conn. – With three of the town’s schools still without power Friday after Hurricane Sandy, Westport Superintendent Elliott Landon said he will decide over the weekend whether to open schools on Monday.
“Until I can be assured that all blocked roads are open and electricity has been restored to all of our schools, I cannot announce with certainty when our school system will be operating normally,” Landon wrote in an email to parents late Friday afternoon.
Landon said that as soon as he makes a decision, he will let parents know via email or telephone. Parents can also find out through the district’s emergency telephone line at 203-341-1766.
“Thank you one and all for your patience during this difficult time,” Landon wrote. “The safety and well-being of our children and staff is our number one priority.”
The Westport Daily Voice will also inform parents on Superintendent Elliott Landon’s decision, so be sure check back with us this weekend.
