The school board announced in March that April 14 would be a makeup day, rather than a vacation day as originally scheduled. The day would have been the first day of a weeklong spring break for students. The break was shortened to four days because of the makeup day.
"The student absences for April 14 ranged from 35 percent to 50 percent," Landon said Monday, according to the CTPost.com report. "This was an unusually, very high number of absences for any one day during the school year."
