WESTPORT, Conn. The stage at Westport's Bedford Middle School will be transformed into 1920s New York this weekend for the seventh- and eighth-grade production of the musical comedy, "Thoroughly Modern Millie."
This Tony Award-winning musical tells the story of young Millie Dillmount, who has just moved to the city in search of a new life and a husband. But Millie isn't looking to marry for love she's looking to marry for money.
However, she falls in love with a boy named Jimmy, who she believes to be poor. But as it turns out, Jimmy isn't so poor.
The musical, based on the 1967 film of the same name starring Julie Andrews, is set in 1922 a time when the rules of love and social behavior were about to change forever.
Performances will be held in the auditorium at Bedford Middle School, 88 North Ave. Catch the show at 7:30 p.m. this Friday and Saturday, or at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $10 for children and $12 for adults at the door. Children 3 and under are free.
