WESTPORT, Conn. The following letter was written by Westport resident Spencer Brown.
To the Editor:
As a lifelong Republican and former member of the Westport Republican Town Committee and the Republican State Central Committee, I am writing to express my support for (Democrat) Michael Gordon for the Westport Board of Education.
As I am sure anyone who saw the debate would agree, Michael gave thorough, thoughtful, substantive answers, and his responses give me great confidence that he will serve our schools well. Michael's success as the manager of a business will be an asset to Westport, and a candidate like Michael who has worked with large, complex budgets will ensure that Westport's schools have the necessary resources for its students in these tough economic times.
Having known Michael for many years, I am convinced that he knows and cares about the issues he will deal with in office and that he will put ideology aside and do what is best for our schools and our children.
The work of the Board of Education should be completely nonpartisan and that is why I will enthusiastically vote for Michael Gordon on Nov. 8. I urge you to do the same.
