EASTON/REDDING, Conn. – The Region 9 Board of Education recently announced Gina Pin would replace Thomas McMorran on an interim basis as Head of School at Joel Barlow High School, which serves the towns of Easton and Redding.
With McMorran's departure to become superintendent of the Region 9 school district in June, Pin took over officially July 1. She will be the Head of School through the rest of the 2015-16 school year, as the district launches a search for a permanent replacement in the fall.
“The board felt it was essential to maintain continuity of leadership for Barlow during this transitional period,” said Region 9 Board Chair Chris Hocker in a statement. “We are very fortunate that Gina Pin is not only an experienced educator and administrator, but has been actively engaged in building Barlow’s record of excellence for the past seven years.”
A resident of Ridgefield, Pin has 29 years of education experience in the area, spending time at East Ridge Middle School in Ridgefield and Ridgefield High School before arriving at Barlow in 2008 and serving as assistant principal.
