Children at the Stepping Stones Preschool in Westport recently received a visit from two special members of their community. Westport firefighters Brendan McHugh and Steve Murphy came to the school to promote fire safety and tell kids a little about what they do. The visit was part of a lesson that is meant to teach children about roles members of the community play.
Stepping Stones, located at Coleytown Elementary, offers classes for 3-and 4-year-olds. And because it is at Coleytown, music, art, physical education and the library are all part of the program.
Stepping Stones will host an open house on Tuesday, Nov. 16, from 2:15-3:15 p.m. at Coleytown Elementary School, 65 Easton Road. Prospective preschoolers are welcome to come along with their parents.
Applications for the 2011-12 school year will be accepted at the open house. Children must be 3-years-old by Sept. 1, 2011.
