Westport Students Present Projects For History Day In Connecticut

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- More than 200 students representing Fairfield, Redding, Stamford, Weston, Westport and several other towns presented their History Day projects to teams of judges at the Fairfield District History Day in Connecticut Contest.

Contestants selected topics that ranged from local history to national and world history. Students in grades 6 to 12 spent months researching a topic of their own choice related to this year’s theme of Rights and Responsibilities in History. Students presented their work in one of five categories: exhibits, documentaries, websites, papers or performances.

The list of top three finishers in each category for Senior and Junior Divisions is in the attached PDF.

The Fairfield District History Day in Connecticut Contest took place at Fairfield University and was co-sponsored by the University’s Department of History and the Graduate School of Education and Allied Professions, part of Fairfield University.

State Reps. Brenda Kupchick (132rd District) and Kim Fawcett (133rd District) assisted state coordinator Rebecca Taber-Conover in presenting the awards.

Fairfield is one of the six History Day in Connecticut District Contests held statewide throughout March. Students who place in the top three in each category are invited to the State History Day Contest on April 26 at Central Connecticut State University.

History Day in Connecticut is an affiliate program of the renowned academic program, National History Day.
