WESTPORT, Conn. -- Westport's Green Task Force told school officials at a recent Board of Education meeting that solar panels on the roofs of the schools could create a savings of $2.1 million over 20 years, according to the Westport News.

At Staples High School alone, solar panels could realize a savings of about $46,900 annually. In addition, the solar installations would help insulate the town from the volatility associated with utility prices, the Westport News reported.
