WESTON, Conn. -- Students at schools in Easton, Redding and Weston will be on early dismissal Monday, Jan. 26, due to an approaching blizzard.
The schools in the Region 9 district for Easton and Redding will be dismissed on a special schedule. Here is the schedule:
- Joel Barlow High School - 11 a.m.
- Helen Keller Middle School - 11:40 a.m.
- Redding Elementary School - 11:45 a.m.
- Samuel Staples Elementary School - 12:25 p.m.
- John Read Middle School - 12:30 p.m.
In Weston, the district is planning a three-hour early dismissal, but will check the status of weather in the early morning and may cancel school if updated weather reports indicate it is prudent to do so. A School Messenger alert will be sent out no later than 5:30 a.m. Monday either confirming the three-hour early dismissal or indicating a change to school closure. Residents may also check the school system's website .
A Blizzard Warning is in effect from 1 p.m. Monday until midnight Tuesday for Fairfield County with heavy snow expected to fall at a rate of 2 to 4 inches of snow, totaling 20 to 30 inches of snow. Winds of 30 to 40 mph and gusts of 55 to 65 mph in the forecast.
