Helen Keller Middle School Principal Joan Parker died Monday evening after a long battle cancer.
"Mrs. Parker faced her illness with courage, grace, and a fighting spirit," Michael Cicchetti, superintendent of Easton, Redding and Region 9 schools, said in a letter to the Easton community. "As you know, she had a deep love for the children of Easton and found them to be a source of comfort and inspiration throughout her illness."[breakhere]
Cicchetti said the Easton schools will have additional counselors on duty today to speak with bereaved students.
Parker is survived by her husband, Jeff, and her two daughters, Elizabeth and Megan. Condolences may be sent to the Parker family at 45 Morning Glory Drive, Easton, CT 06612. Information about services was incomplete.
