Get out your fashionable boots and prepare to help Easton schools : The Easton Learning Foundation and the Redding Education Foundation invite residents to preview the fashions of Carlisle and Per Se at its Greenwich Avenue showroom on March 3 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Noelle Newell, an Easton resident and interior designer, is hosting the reception. "We hope this will be a lovely evening to visit with friends and think of spring," ELF President Bernadette Waterman said in an email. "And no more snow!"
Newell is donating 5 percent of the proceeds from sales to be shared by Easton Learning Foundation and the Redding Learning Foundation.
Easton schools continue to receive valuable support from the foundation. "ELF recently co-funded with Redding Education Foundation a laptop for [ Joel Barlow High School ] students in financial hardship to continue to work hard on his/her studies from home," Waterman said.
The group also provided a grant to Samuel Staples Elementary School to send 12 kids on a trip to Washington, D.C., to meet with two senators. "These students will experience the application of concepts they have learned in their study of government and their hard work on the SSES Senate," Waterman said.
The Easton foundation is also coordinating grants for an outdoor classroom and a $20,000 grant to honor former Helen Keller Middle School principal Joan Parker . At the top of the foundation's priority list is professional development and innovative technologies, Waterman said.
Waterman and Newell will also speak at a "SheEO" luncheon on Tuesday, Feb. 15, at the Cornell Club in New York City at noon. "You are welcome to join us for lunch and to network with many dynamic and professional women," Waterman said. She will show a video of Easton Learning Foundation grants in action with the hopes that the women will become inspired to help their own local education foundations.
