Easton Actors Exit Laughing

Taylor Eden is glad to be ending her Joel Barlow High School acting career with a comedy instead of a tragedy.

"This is some of the most fun I've had at school," said the Easton resident, who will play Phoebe in "As You Like It" Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.

Before the rehearsal got underway, students were dancing and singing in the auditorium with fellow cast members.

"I like that I may not talk to a lot of people during the day or after school, but here we're a close community of people," said Zachary Sherman, a Barlow senior who will be playing Oliver. Sherman plans to attend Fordham University in the fall, and Eden will go to the Maryland Institute College of Art.

The cast put on their dresses and suits and got their microphones hooked up during a dress rehearsal Thursday afternoon. Nancy Ponturo, the director, sat in the back of the auditorium occasionally yelling directions to the cast and crew.

Tickets can be purchased by calling the high school at (203) 938-2508, ext. 110, or by emailing barlowtheatre@gmail.com .
