A major boiler malfunction at Helen Keller Middle School in Easton over the weekend has forced the school to close Tuesday, Feb. 22. Samuel Staples Elementary School is not affected and will remain open for a regular school day on Tuesday. The Helen Keller Middle School administration is conducting the required work to repair the boiler, but officials say it is necessary to close the school for the day to properly ventilate all areas of the building. There will also be appropriate testing of the air quality performed by outside sources to ensure that students can safely return. The school district says it expected the situation to be resolved so that school can reopen on Wednesday, Feb. 23.
