Save The Children's Westport Headquarters For Sale

WESTPORT, Conn. – Save the Children may be moving from its corporate headquarters at 54 Wilton Road in Westport. The almost 60,000-square-foot building, located along the Saugatuck River, is currently on the market.

Although the building is listed for sale by Cushman & Wakefield’s Private Capital Group, the international nonprofit has not yet firmly decided on selling, Jeremy Soulliere, a communications associate for Save the Children, said Monday.

“Right now, we’re just exploring our options,” said Soulliere. “We want to see what kind of bids we get and if it’s worth our while to move forward. Once we see what we get back, we’ll take it from there, but this is not in the least a done deal.”

Al Mirin, a senior director with Cushman & Wakefield, said there has been a lot of interest in the property. Since the building was listed three or four weeks ago, Mirin said, more than 100 parties have expressed interest. Mirin could not say who’s looking at the property or what uses potential buyers have in mind for the building.

If Save the Children does decide to go forward with the sale, Soulliere said, it would concentrate on relocating within Fairfield County.

“We’ve been a part of the Westport and Fairfield County community for nearly 40 years, and we appreciate the support the community has given us,” Soulliere said.

Save the Children has occupied 54 Wilton Road since 1974, Soulliere said. The two-story building, located on the west bank of the Saugatuck River, is 58,771 square feet and sits on more than 2.5 acres.
