The building was sold to STC Green LLC of Westport, of which Westport developer David Waldman is a partner. Save the Children spokesperson Jeremy Soulliere said the nonprofit is planning to relocate its headquarters next spring to a “nearby property that will be suitable for our growing operation.”
“We are in final negotiations on potential lease spaces in Fairfield County, and expect to be able to make an announcement as soon as the papers are signed,” Soulliere said.
The nonprofit had no further comment at this time about the sale of the building or its relocation, Soulliere said.
The nearly 60,000-square-foot building, located on the west bank of the Saugatuck River, went on the market at the end of last year. In August, the nonprofit signed a contract with Waldman and his partners.
Waldman said he and his partners have not yet decided on how they will use the building, which has housed Save the Children since 1974.
The two-story building totals 58,771 square feet and sits on more than 2.5 acres.
