She comes from a family of award winning builders and Realtors but the asset that might help her most, however, is her language skills. A native of Transylvania in Romania, Wright speaks Hungarian, Romanian, English and Spanish. She came to the United States in 2002, studied psychology and sociology at Sacred Heart University, and earned a master’s degree in teaching.
“I chose William Pitt Sotheby’s because of it’s an international brand and has the strongest global presence,’’ Wright said. “Eventually I’d like to be a global Realtor. I think my background in languages could be very beneficial.”
Wright’s professional career started in education, where she taught second grade in Weston and Stamford. While helping her husband with his construction company, the mother of two and stepmother of two older children developed a passion for real estate and construction. Her husband's sudden and unexpected passing in 2015 made her re-adjust her career path.
“I still do a little part-time teaching,’’ Wright said. “But I wanted to have my own business and grow it. I wanted to have my own investment. I want to invest in real estate. I love real estate and I love construction.”
Wright, who lives in Fairfield, believes she brings transferrable skills to her new job. “The fact that I speak those languages does help a lot with buyers,’’ she said. “I know a lot of people in the Hungarian and Romanian community, connect with school staff while teaching, love and support Southport Congregational Church, the local businesses, Fairfield Theatre Company, our clubs, schools, library and restaurants. I'm the biggest fan of living in Fairfield county.
"I travel a lot, but words can not describe the awesome feeling of coming home,'' Wright added. "Helping with my husband’s business was a great benefit, I learned a lot about construction and got to meet many award winning local builders. I think all of these factors will help me grow in real estate, but I connect with people of all backgrounds easily, that is my biggest asset."
Wright worked with other new agents at a one-week intensive training session, and frequently spends time on an online training system. She also meets weekly with the office manager of the Southport office, Brad Kimmelman, making sure that she is up to date with everything real estate related. And she’s looking forward to closing a lot of deals -- in any language.
“It’s a wonderful feeling to be helpful, I love serving this great community,’’ Erika said.
