Families, Pets Displaced By Early Morning Fire In Brunswick

Several people were displaced in Frederick County on Monday morning when an early morning fire broke out in an area home and quickly spread to neighboring units.

Shortly after 3:15 a.m. on Monday, May 15, Frederick County Fire and Rescue personnel were called to the 600 block of East H Street in Brunswick to help knock down a reported fire that prompted a second alarm.

The building was evacuated by 3:50 a.m. on Monday morning, though crews were still battling a blaze that spread from the bottom of the building up to the attic, where flames could be seen showing and smoke was billowing through the roof.

Officials say that the fire was declared under control at approximately 4:45 a.m. on Monday, though there was heavy damage reported to two homes, while two others were damaged.

All occupants were able to vacate the residences, and no injuries were reported.

The Red Cross was called to assist, and according to the fire department, five adults, three kids, and several pets were displaced and are now being assisted by the agency.

It is unclear what caused the fire, or where it originated. The incident remains under investigation.
