Peekskill Mayor Files Complaint Against Housing Nonprofit's Chief

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- The flap over grants given to a Peekskill politician has a new wrinkle, according to a report by The Examiner News.

Peekskill Mayor Frank Catalina has filed a formal complaint against Alan Steiner, head of a local nonprofit organization, claiming that Steiner had sullied his reputation as an attorney.

The city’s mayor, Frank Catalina, has filed a formal complaint against Alan Steiner, an official with the non-profit that gave Councilwoman Drew Claxton and her family the grants, claiming that Steiner has tarnished his reputation, The Examiner News reported.

Catalina, an attorney, is also lobbing claims of professional misconduct at Steiner, a town of Philipstown judge and chairman of The Preservation Company's board of directors, for remarks he allegedly made while discussing the Claxton case with the press, The Examiner News report said.

Steiner’s only response to Catalina’s complaint was that the nonprofit would not engage in “local politics,” The Examiner News reported.
