Ridgewood police grab wanted pair in car

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: Both a driver and his passenger had warrants out for their arrests when a Ridgewood patrolman doing routine motor vehicle checks stopped them — and found one of them carrying heroin — after a computer check revealed that the vehicle’s operator was on the suspended list.

Patrolman Michael McDermott stopped the 2007 Suzuki on Maple Avenue on Tuesday night.

The passenger, Robert J. Ferri, 26, of Hawthorne, was charged with drug possession and released pending a Municipal Court date. He was wanted for a motor vehicle offense out of Franklin Lakes, Detective Chris McDowell told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

The driver, James Rinaldi, 48, of Paterson, was wanted on a loitering charge out of Newark, McDowell said.
