Wild Night On The GWB: Multi-Vehicle Crashes, DWIs, Cocaine Trucker Bust

FORT LEE, N.J. -- A wild pre-holiday stretch at the George Washington Bridge kept Port Authority police moving -- with multi-vehicle crashes, DWI arrests and a cocaine seizure -- Friday night into Saturday morning.

A vehicle overturned in a three-car crash on the upper level at 2:15 a.m., leading to DWI charges against one of the drivers.

The resulting fuel spill later caused a four-vehicle pileup -- and a DWI charge for 30-year-old Jack Edward of Trumbull, CT.

Hours earlier, officers were on a DWI stakeout at the upper level toll plaza when a 55-year-old Mahwah woman crashed her car into a BMW and then registered a .16% blood-alcohol level -- twice the legal limit in New Jersey, authorities said.

Soon after, a Florida trucker who police said blackened out his license plates in an attempt to avoid paying the E-ZPass toll was found with two bags of cocaine in his 88,000-pound rig, they told Daily Voice.
