State Closing Route 130 In Bridgeport For Weekend Work

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Fairfield Avenue in Bridgeport will be closed for the next two weekends for work related to the overhead wires for the Metro-North trains, the Connecticut Department of Transportation said.  

Route 130 in Bridgeport from Commerce Drive to Railroad Ave east will be closed Friday to Monday for the next two weekends.

Eastbound Fairfield Avenue, also known as Route 130, will be closed in Bridgeport from Commerce Drive to Railroad Avenue from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 am. Monday. The closure will occur again next weekend, Friday, Nov. 13, through Monday, Nov. 16.

The work is part of a project to overhaul the overhead catenary wire system and replace five bridges along the New Haven Line between Bridgeport and Fairfield. 

The weekend closures are required to complete the roadway lowering and paving operations on Fairfield Avenue. The project is scheduled to be complete in December.

Detours will be in place to direct traffic around closure. 

Car traffic will be detoured to Pine Street, Bostwick Avenue and then to State Street. Truck traffic will be detoured to Pine Street, Wordin Avenue and then to State Street.
