Wexler’s nomination was made Tuesday night by delegates to the Westport/Weston Probate Judge Republican Nominating Convention.

“The most important attributes you need for this job are experience, knowledge and compassion,” said Wexler. “I am deeply humbled and honored that you have chosen me as your nominee. I will do my very best to serve you and every member of our community with impartiality, sensitivity and respect.”

Wexler will run against Westport attorney Kieran Costello, who was nominated by the Westport Democratic Town Committee last week.

The winner will serve for a period of one year, completing the term of former Probate Judge Kevin O’Grady, who resigned in April for health reasons.

“With a strong knowledge of how our Probate Court system works and the rules governing Probate, Lisa will do an outstanding job for you when you need her the most,” said former state Sen. Judith Freedman, Wexler’s campaign co-chairwoman. “She will be there to preside with fairness and compassion on each individual matter.”

Within the community, Wexler has served on the Westport Zoning Board of Appeals and the Westport Planning and Zoning Commission.

Wexler is also is the host of The Lisa Wexler Show, a radio talk show that airs Mondays through Fridays from 4 to 6 p.m. on 1230 AM.

“The entire Westport RTC unanimously recommended her nomination because of her outstanding qualifications and record of public service to our community,” Westport Republican Town Committee Chairwoman Desiree Soli said. “We know she has the compassion as well as the brains necessary for the job."
