WESTPORT, Conn. – Here's what Westport residents need to know about where to vote and who’s on the ballot today.

Westport voters will join other voters across the country in picking a president. The two main contenders are Democratic incumbent Barack Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney. Libertarian Gary Johnson and Independent Rocky Anderson also are on the ballot.

Republican Linda McMahon and Democrat Chris Murphy are running for U.S. Sen. Joe Lieberman's seat. Independent Paul Passarelli is also a candidate in that race. U.S. Rep. Jim Himes (D-4th District) is running for re-election against Republican challenger Steve Obsitnik.

Due to redistricting, Westport will be represented by two state senators and two state representatives beginning next year. Residents in the 26th Senate District will chose between incumbent Republican Toni Boucher and challenger Carolanne Curry, a Democrat. Residents in the southeast portion of town will join the 28th District, which is currently represented by state Sen. John McKinney, a Republican. He is running unopposed.

State Rep. Jonathan Steinberg, a Democrat representing Westport’s 136th District, is being challenged by Republican Stephen Rubin. Residents who live in the west side of town will be in the 143rd District, and will choose between Republican incumbent Gail Lavielle and Democrat Ted Hoffstatter.

Polling places will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Where you vote depends on your voting district. Because of redistricting, voting districts were redrawn, which means you may have a new polling location. If you are unsure which district you live in, check the registrars’ street guide .

The polling places are:

? District 136-1: Saugatuck School Gym (170 Riverside Ave.)

? District 143-1: Saugatuck School Gym (170 Riverside Ave.)

? District 136-2: Coleytown Middle School Gym (255 North Ave.)

? District 136-3: Long Lots School Gym (13 Hyde Lane)

? District 136-4 & 5: Greens Farms Gym (17 Morningside Drive S.)
