WESTPORT, Conn. – Westport voters followed the Democratic voting trend seen across the state and nation Tuesday. President Barack Obama, and U.S. Reps. Chris Murphy and Jim Himes all won majorities in Westport, along with their overall victories Tuesday night.
In the presidential race, Obama won 8,494 votes in Westport, official results show. Republican challenger Mitt Romney received 6,439 votes — 2,055 less than Obama.
Murphy defeated Republican Linda McMahon in the U.S. Senate race by a margin of 8,341 to 6,106, a difference of 2,235 votes.
Himes had the largest lead of the three Democrats, winning 2,410 more votes than his Republican challenger, Steve Obsitnik. Himes received 8,467 votes, Obsitnik 6,057.
