WESTPORT, Conn. -- The Westport Republican Town Committee recently announced its candidate for Zoning Board of Appeals.
The Nominations Vacancy Committee selected Wally Sutherland to run for Zoning Board of Appeals in this November’s election, according to a release from the Republican town committee. If elected, Sutherland will give the Republican Party a majority on the Zoning Board of Appeals, according to the release.
“We are delighted to have Wally Sutherland join our team of Republican candidates this fall," said RTC Chairperson Desiree Soli. "He will be a tremendous asset to the Zoning Board of Appeals, and to our Town. From the top of our ticket with Board of Selectman candidates Jim Marpe and Avi Kaner, and across all the Boards and Commissions, we have a slate of experienced, talented candidates that will help move Westport forward. We are confident that the voters will agree and elect Wally Sutherland and our entire Republican ticket on Nov. 5.”

Wally Sutherland and his wife, Patsy, have lived in Westport for more than 40 years. They are the parents of four daughters, three of which live in Westport, and they have 14 grandchildren. Wally served our country in the U.S. Marines Reserves for seven years, and is a graduate of NYU’s school of Accounts, Commerce and Finance. His professional career spans 45 years in the financial industry, dealing mainly in debt and equity securities. Wally is also a dedicated volunteer at Norwalk Hospital.
