WESTPORT, Conn. – State Rep. Jonathan P. Steinberg (D-Westport) has been named Majority Whip at Large as the new legislative session began on Tuesday.
Also, Steinberg received several committee assignments on top of his Whip responsibilities.
Speaker of the House Brendan Sharkey (D-Hamden) named Steinberg to the Transportation, Finance Revenue & Bonding, Energy and Technology, and Government Administration & Elections Committees.
This is his first year on the Government Administration & Elections Committee.
“My assignments to the Transportation and Finance committees reflect my dedication to addressing urgent transportation infrastructure investment priorities in Fairfield County and along the shoreline corridor,” Steinberg said.
The Transportation Committee oversees the Department of Transportation, State Traffic Commission and the Department of Motor Vehicles.
The Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee covers all issues with the Department of Revenue Services and the revenue aspects of the Division of Special Revenue.
The Energy and Technology Committee handles the Department of Public Utility Control and energy planning and activities.
The Government Administration and Elections Committee is the overseer of the Department of Administrative Services.
