The department will expand staff hours from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday, said director Laurence Bradley in a press release. Currently, there are only dedicated staff hours for public inquires between 9 a.m. and noon on Wednesdays.

"During these times dedicated staff will be available to answer zoning questions, discuss potential new projects, review generator applications and other similar activities that do not require a zoning permit be issued at that time," said the release.

On Wednesdays, there will still be “walk-in” hours during which the public may obtain zoning permits for smaller scale residential projects. Large scale residential projects and all commercial projects may obtain zoning permits by appointment only. Inquires that arrive outside of the posted hours will be answered on the next business day, according to the release.

“This will give the public more access to our staff for items such as project inquiries, generator sign offs and general zoning questions,” Bradley said in the release. “The public will now have the ability for three hours each day, Monday through Friday to get their zoning questions answered.”

Those with questions related to the new staff hours should call the Planning & Zoning Office at 203-341-1030 or email at pandz@westportct.gov.
