Westport First Selectman Gordon Joseloff announced Tuesday the appointment of Lindsay as the town’s new tree warden. The appointment is subject to approval of a contract, which will be considered by the Board of Selectmen on Nov. 13, according to a press release.

“We are delighted to have Bruce join us in managing Westport’s urban forest,” Joseloff said in the press release. “He brings extensive experience and expertise to this position which he has demonstrated by completing numerous successful projects with many Connecticut municipalities.”

Lindsay said in seeking the part-time position that “tree management and care on municipal land is a serious process, especially given the recent storms," according to the press release.

"He said he intends to be extremely involved in preventative maintenance, tree risk and health evaluation as well as future planning," said the press release.

Lindsay recently aided Groundwork Bridgeport and is former president of the nonprofit Milford Trees Inc., which "organizes tree plantings throughout Milford" and serves as vice chairman of the Orange Tree Committee, according to the release.

Joseloff said, if the appointment became official, Lindsay would report to the first selectman through the Director of Public Works and would work closely with the Tree Board, which is appointed by the First Selectman, according to the release.
