WESTON, Conn. — The Weston Republican Town Committee (RTC) recently elected Bob Ferguson as its chair for a two-year term.
A life-long Republican, Ferguson joined the RTC in 2014 and managed two campaigns as campaign chair, most recently the successful 2015 campaign which took back the First Selectman seat after a six-year hiatus.
“I’m thrilled Bob was elected chair," Treasurer Woody Bliss said. “He’s been proven to have a keen political mind in political affairs, not only on the local level but the national level, as well. While a new standard was set by his predecessor, Britta Lerner, Bob will build on her legacy as he brings his own vision to the leadership role.”
Ferguson has lived in Weston since 2004 and spent his 25-year career in finance, most recently as a managing director with Barclays where he managed a multi-billion dollar fixed income portfolio. In November, he was elected to the Board of Finance.
He's also a member of Weston Kiwanis and St. Francis of Assisi Church.
The RTC also elected Dawn Rivera, vice chair candidate recruitment, Barbara King, vice chair campaign, Carol Berg, secretary; and Bliss as treasurer. The four join Ferguson to make up the RTC’s executive board.
“I am excited to step into the role of RTC chair and build on the success that Britta Lerner built over the past six years," Ferguson said. "I will continue to fight for strong conservative values and encourage fiscal responsibility for Weston, while retaining the unique characteristics of our town. We are committed to furthering the success of Republican candidates in Weston and throughout the state.”
The Weston Republican Town Committee meets on the second Tuesday of the month. Members of the public are welcome to attend.
