WESTPORT – Westport residents will have a unique opportunity Friday to meet the Republican candidates running for Westport’s boards and commissions at a meet-and-greet event.

Voters are invited to attend the annual Oktoberfest celebration, featuring authentic German food, German beer on tap, wine, soft drinks and live music.

Among the candidates that will be on hand to meet the voters and discuss the issues are Board of Selectman candidates Jim Marpe and Avi Kaner, Board of Finance candidate Jennifer Tooker, Board of Education candidates Michael McGovern, Jeannie Smith and Karen Kleine, Probate Judge candidate Lisa Wexler and for Zoning Board of Appeals candidate Wally Sutherland, among others.

“This is a terrific forum where the candidates and the community can join together to have some fun while discussing the issues in advance of this important election,” said Desiree Soli, chairwoman of the Westport Republican Town Committee in a prepared statement. “We are so proud of our entire slate of candidates who are so well prepared to lead Westport forward, and we are excited for the voters to better get to know this talented group.”

The event will be from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Westport Woman’s Club, 44 Imperial Ave. The event costs $40 per person. Please make checks payable to: Westport RTC, P.O. Box 601, Westport, CT 06881. For more information, contact Desiree Soli at 203-400-2773.
