WESTPORT, Conn. -- State Rep. Jonathan Steinberg (D-Westport) recently announced that Sasco Creek Apartments in Westport was expected to receive state funds for rehabilitation.
Gov. Dannel Malloy committed $18,335,000 in grants and loans in November 2013 to help fund 13 housing developments in the state-sponsored housing portfolio, including Westport's Sasco Creek Apartments, according to a release. The funding includes $8,898,000 in state bond funds to provide a grant-in-aid to the Westport Housing Authority to assist with redevelopment of the moderate rental project.
“I welcome the state’s continued support of affordable housing in Westport,” said Steinberg. “Well-designed affordable housing options, such as the project at Sasco Creek, are the best way to encourage the community diversity which we all value.”
The Sasco Creek Apartments, owned by the Westport Housing Authority and managed by Millennium Real Estate Services, is a rental development comprising 33 individual mobile homes built in 1985, according to the release. The existing 33 mobile homes will be demolished and replaced with 54 new units along with a community building and new infrastructure.
