WESTON, Conn. -- State Rep. John Shaban (R-135) was recently honored with the “Legislator of the Year” award from the Connecticut Police Chiefs Association for his support of law enforcement personnel.
This year, Shaban worked to prevent forced consolidation of dispatch centers, saying that a one-size-fits-all approach would have been devastating to local first responders.
He said he also worked to keep The Police Officer Standards and Training Council (POST) as the central point of training and standards for police officers, resisting yearly efforts by certain legislators to micromange law enforcement officers.
Shaban's district encompasses Weston, Redding and Easton.
In the November election, he is running against U.S. Rep. Jim Himes for the seat representing the 4th District in the U.S. House of Representatives.
