Obama Coming To Westport, Stamford For Fundraisers

WESTPORT, Conn. – President Barack Obama is set to visit Westport and Stamford for two re-election campaign fundraisers being held Aug. 6, Westport Democratic Town Committee Chairman James Ezzes confirms.

The first fundraiser will be held in Westport at the waterfront home of movie producer Harvey Weinstein, Ezzes said, adding that Weinstein is a big supporter of the Democratic Party. Between 50 and 60 people are expected to attend the private dinner, which has a price of $35,800 per guest, Ezzes said.

The Westport dinner party is scheduled for approximately 6:30 p.m. Earlier in the evening, Obama is scheduled to appear at a fundraising event being held at the Stamford Marriott at 5 p.m., Ezzes said. This event is being organized by the Democratic National Committee and will cost $500 per person.

Ezzes said the Stamford fundraiser will resemble a large cocktail reception. It will feature live entertainment and may draw about 500 people, he said. In addition to the president, Gov. Dannel Malloy, Rep. Jim Himes, Sen. Richard Blumenthal and other federal candidates are expected to attend this event.

“These events are always a lot of fun,” said Ezzes, who will attend the Stamford fundraiser.

Obama last visited Fairfield County in October 2010 when he appeared at a Democratic campaign rally in Bridgeport.

Anyone interested in attending either fundraiser on Aug. 6 may email Ezzes at jezzes@westportdemocrats.org.
