The town hall series focused on discussions surrounding the state’s new two-year budget and answered questions regarding new legislation that was passed during the 2013 legislative session.
“These meetings provide for an excellent give-and take, and I believe they make us better legislators,” Frantz said in a statement. “Taxpayers need to be heard in Connecticut, and we bring their message directly to Hartford.”
Following a short presentation, the lawmakers covered a range of topics, including the high cost of business in Connecticut, efforts to reduce government red tape, the status of Connecticut’s bond rating and the launch of “Access Health Connecticut,” the state’s public health insurance marketplace.
“There are a lot of changes happening in Connecticut, from health care insurance reform to volatile finances, and I am concerned about the direction our state is going in,” Boucher said in a statement. “There are deep implications for people and businesses alike.”
"I want to thank all of the residents who took the time to come speak with us," Frey said in a statement. "It has always been my goal to make sure our government is working for Ridgefield residents and is as transparent as possible.”
"People in all of our towns are very concerned about Connecticut's future," Lavielle said in a statement. "They are worried about whether their families can afford to stay here and particularly about whether the job market will ever improve. They confirmed my view that we need substantial policy changes to turn our state's economy around."
"There are many issues facing Connecticut residents," O'Dea said in a statement. "It is important that we make sure our government is in communication with our constituents. I thank all the residents who came out to talk with us."
