League Of Women Voters Of Westport Holds Second Candidates Debate

WESTPORT, Conn. -- The League of Women Voters of Westport, in co-sponsorship with the PTA, Westport Young Women’s League and the Ys Women, will hold a debate for candidates for the Board of Finance on Wednesday, Oct. 14, at Westport Town Hall Auditorium from 7 to 9 p.m.

A new aspect will be a meet-and-greet with the candidates for the Representative Town Meeting from Westport’s nine districts prior to the debate in the lower lobby level from 6:15 to 6:55 p.m.

The event will begin with the Board of Education candidates who will have the opportunity to give brief comments, as well as respond to questions collected from the audience and read by the moderator. These will include incumbents Paul Block (R), Michael Gordon (D) and Mark Mathias (D). Next will be the debate for candidates vying for the Board of Finance including Michael Rea (R), Iain Bruce (R), Clarissa Moore (R), Sheri Gordon(D) and John Hartwell (D).

Jean Rabinow, a member of the Steering Committee of the LWV of the Bridgeport Area and Director of Outreach and Education Fund of the League of Women Voters of Connecticut, will moderate the event.

The event will be televised live on Public Access Channel 79 and will be rebroadcast on subsequent weekends until Election Day on Tuesday, Nov. 3.

Specific time information will be posted on the Celebrate Westport Calendar. It will also be videostreamed on westportct.gov .
