Worker At Westport Store Charged With Selling Customers' Personal Info

WESTPORT, Conn. -- A 23-year-old New York man was arrested Wednesday, July 2, on charges of stealing and then selling the personal information of customers at his Westport workplace, police said. 

Stefano Pascente of Richmond Hill, N.Y., turned himself in on a warrant stemming from a December 2013 investigation, police said.

Police said he took and sold people's personal information while working at a cellphone store in Westport. 

Pascente was charged with nine counts of trafficking in personal identifying information.

He was processed, fingerprinted and photographed. He was released on $10,000 bond set by Westport police and given a court date of July 11 in Norwalk Superior Court.

In other police news, Josean Perez-Nieves, 33, was arrested Wednesday on a warrant in connection with the May theft of lawn equipment from a landscaping truck in Westport, police said.

Perez Nieves, who lives at 508 Harral Ave., was located by Bridgeport police and turned over to the Westport Police Department. Perez-Nieves was charged with fifth-degree larceny. Bond was set at $1,000, and he received a court date of July 14 at Norwalk Superior Court.
