Westport Woman Faces Credit Card, Identity Theft Charges

WESTPORT, Conn. -- A 32-year-old Westport woman has been charged with multiple counts of identity theft and illegal use of credit cards, according to the Westport News.

Police said Shavonne Coachman was taken into custody in Cromwell and charged with numerous counts of third-degree identity theft, conspiracy to commit third-degree identity theft and conspiracy to commit illegal use of a credit card, the paper said.

Police said Coachman was charged after detectives determined she had received a number of credit cards stolen from vehicles in Westport in October and used the cards to make more than $7,000 in purchases, added the news source.
