Westport Woman Accused Of Driving Drunk To McDonald’s

WESTPORT, Conn. — A 62-year-old Westport woman was charged with drunken driving last week after police said she drove drunk to the McDonald’s on Post Road East.

Several officers responded to the McDonald’s parking lot, 701 Post Road E., last Wednesday night after police received a call from an unidentified woman who said she believed the driver of a black Range Rover was intoxicated, the police report said.

When officers arrived, they found the black Range Rover in the parking lot, parked over the white parking line on one side, the report said. The vehicle’s engine was on and two people were inside, police said.

While speaking with the driver, later identified as Deborah Vertucci of Roseville Road, one of the officers smelled alcohol on her breath, the report said. Vertucci’s speech was said to be slurred as well.

Vertucci’s son, who was sitting in the passengers seat, initially told the officers he had driven the car to McDonald’s, police said. However, when Vertucci was asked by one of the officers if she had entered the McDonald’s parking lot from the Roseville Road or Post Road entrance, she told the officer she drove in from Roseville Road, the report said.

Vertucci failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody. At police headquarters, she submitted to breath tests with the following results: 0.115 and 0.113. The legal blood-alcohol content limit is 0.08.

Vertucci was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, a misdemeanor, and released after posting a $500 bond. She is due at Norwalk Superior Court on Thursday.
