update : The charges in this case have been dismissed.
original story: WESTPORT, Conn. — A 26-year-old Fairfield man was arrested on several drug charges in Westport on Tuesday after he was found in possession of crystal methamphetamine and ecstasy following a traffic stop, police said.
Benny Palmieri was pulled over shortly before 1:30 a.m. after police said he failed to use his turn signal. When approaching the vehicle, officers spotted cash and a small black pouch on the console— which Palmieri later hid when he was asked to step out of the vehicle, the arrest report said.
During the investigation, Palmieri was found to be in possession of a small glass pipe, which police said is commonly used for narcotics use. A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up the crystal methamphetamine, ecstasy, a small digital scale and packaging materials, police said.
Police said Palmieri confirmed that the substance was crystal meth and that he admitted to selling it earlier. He was charged with the following felonies: possession of narcotics, possession of a hallucinogen and sale of narcotics. He was also charged possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.
Palmieri was released after posting $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on March 28.
