Westport Police: Woman Turns Self In After Drunken Driving Crash

WESTPORT, Conn. — A Westport woman accused of causing a drunken-driving crash last year turned herself in to police March 28.

On Nov. 27, Valerie Spinola, 53, of Hales Court, was in a motor vehicle incident with injuries on Post Road East, police said.

She was taken to Norwalk Hospital and the investigating officer used a search warrant of her medical records to determine she was under the influence of alcohol when the crash occurred, police said.

Spinola was charged with operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol, operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol with a child passenger and failure to grant the right of way, police said.

She had a minor in the car at the time of the crash, police said.

Spinola was held on $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on April 7, police said.
