WESTPORT, Conn. — A 48-year-old Bridgeport woman was accused of leaving a 4-year-old child alone inside a car that contained a pipe used for smoking crack cocaine, Westport police say.
Eleanor Cobb was arrested last Wednesday and charged with risk of injury to a minor— a felony— after police received a report of a child left unattended in a car. When officers arrived, they found the child in the car and Cobb shopping in a nearby store, police say.
While speaking with officers, Cobb reportedly admitted she had been drinking and that she had a crack pipe in the car, the arrest report says. Officers also determined that Cobb had shoplifted from Walgreen’s, police say.
Cobb was also charged with sixth-degree larceny and possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors. She was released after posting $5,000 bond and was scheduled to appear at Norwalk Superior Court on Dec. 13.
