On Feb. 17, Westport officers responded to Castle Wine & Spirits, where employees said a man had stolen a bottle of vodka valued at $56.99 and left in a red Chevy Trailblazer, police said.

Store surveillance showed the man stuffing the bottle down his pants, police said.

Three days later, a Westport officer stopped the same vehicle and identified the driver as James Coates, 41, of Southward Drive, police said. Coates was wearing the same green Army jacket from the night of the larceny, police said.

He was arrested on a warrant Thursday, after Norwalk Police took him into custody, police said.

Coates faces one count of sixth-degree larceny and was held on $10,000 bond, police said.

He is expected in court on April 14.
