Westport Police: Senior Couple Arrested With Marijuana, Pills

WESTPORT, Conn. – A 73-year-old man and a 65-year-old woman from Colorado were charged with felony drug possession in Westport after the mobile home they were driving was stopped for a red light violation on Riverside Avenue Monday afternoon, police said.

When approached by the officer, the driver— identified as Thomas Michael Howard— admitted to having a quantity of marijuana in the vehicle, the arrest report said. As a result, Westport Police Service Dog Koda was called in and the vehicle was searched, police said.

According to the arrest report, the following was found inside the vehicle: 144 pills identified as acetaminophen and hydrocodone; a total of 2.82 ounces in marijuana; a bottle of liquefied marijuana extract weighing over 2 pounds; three syringes filled with liquid marijuana; three plastic containers filled with hash weighing 24.8 grams; a metal marijuana grinder with residue; miscellaneous marijuana smoking pipes and paraphernalia; and $4,131.

Both Howard and his female passenger, Nora Clark, were charged with possession of narcotics, possession of a controlled substance, possession of narcotics with intent to sell and failure to keep narcotics in proper container, all felonies. They were also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.

Howard and Clark were each being held on $10,000 bond and scheduled for arraignment at Norwalk Superior Court Tuesday morning.
