Westport Police Recover Vehicle Reported Stolen In Bridgeport

WESTPORT, Conn. — A 23-year-old New Haven man accused of stealing a car in Bridgeport on Saturday was arrested after he was stopped in Westport, police said.

Shortly after 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Bridgeport police advised departments in nearby towns that a vehicle had been stolen in there and to be on the lookout for it, police said.

Not long after the vehicle’s description was provided to Westport patrol officers, Officer Thomas Casimiro spotted the vehicle traveling west on Post Road East, according to the police report. Casimiro stopped the vehicle and held the driver— identified as Yannick Williams— in custody until Bridgeport police arrived.

Williams was charged by Bridgeport police with third-degree larceny and held on $5,000 bond.
